Too big to miss and too informative to forget!

The moment the DataArt team entered the Orange County Convention Center, they got a feeling that the conference had no borders and boundaries in size and length. If you have never visited HIMSS, it is like nothing you have ever experienced before in a tradeshow. More than 40,000 health IT professionals, clinicians, executives, and vendors from around the world came to Orlando, FL, as participants of this industry-leading conference. This biggest educational event appears to be a great place to find out about novelties in the healthcare sector and connect with peers.

Connected health, clinical and business intelligence, cybersecurity, health information exchange, and interoperability were included among the hot topics on the HIMSS 2017 conference agenda. Tightly connected with the relevant topics, the DataArt team attended plenty of meetings and managed to express their vision of the future in relation to the development of digital technology.

The list of keynote speakers included John Boehner, the former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and Ed Rendell, the 45th governor of Pennsylvania, who participated in a lively discussion on how the new administration will affect the future of health IT. Other keynote speakers included Robert Herjavec and Kevin O'Leary of Shark Tank fame, and Ginni Rometty, Chairman, President and CEO, at IBM.

Many came with the aim to promote the best use of information technology and management systems in the healthcare industry as well as to speak with health industry leaders, see the newest products and services and get an idea of what lies ahead in healthcare. Some people have even beaten their personal records of steps according to their health app trackers while walking from one booth to another one.

The educational sessions held over five days were priceless and extremely informative. There were a lot of interesting statements circulating around telemedicine, data mining, augmented reality, and security.

The event was well organized in every aspect, including guidance for first time attendees. For many of them, HIMSS is overwhelming, fascinating, and entertaining at the same time.

Based on observations and conversations with healthcare IT professionals, the DataArt Healthcare and Life Sciences team was excited after returning from this educational and important event. Overall, it was a great knowledge exchange opportunity! We are very interested to participate in the next event in 2018!
