conhIT 2018 – Afterthoughts (1)

conhIT – Connecting Healthcare IT, the leading digital health event in Europe, which took place from 17-19 April in Berlin, left us with many impressions that we’d like to share.

Occupying Germany’s biggest exhibition center at Messe Berlin, conhIT exceeded all expectations in terms of turnout, the topics covered, workshops, and keynote addresses, including a speech by Jens Spahn, Germany’s Minister of Health. To put things into numbers, conhIT hosted 577 exhibitors and welcomed around 10.000 visitors. The three-day convention demonstrated that the eHealth world is showing progress and digitalization has no borders. This time, 21% of the conhIT exhibitors were from outside of the DACH region: from Finland, Canada, USA, Israel, Chile and China, to name a few places.

Under the slogan “Transforming Healthcare,” the event addressed a wide audience of e-health solutions providers that included both big companies and startups, doctors, R&D participants, health association representatives, decision-makers in IT departments, publishers and other professionals interested in health IT.

Above all, we at DataArt thought that despite the enormous scope of coverage at conhIT, we still managed to get a good overview of the hottest topics and latest innovations in the eHealth industry. Not only did conhIT provide outstanding opportunities for networking but also, through the many workshops and panel discussions taking place, it highlighted the main themes and trends in the digital health space in Europe. Among the most talked about issues one were Interoperability, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, IT-security, patient-centricity, electronic patient Files and blockchain. It’s also noteworthy to highlight the topic of Women in eHealth that was raised at the event. The idea behind this effort is to encourage more women to join the tech world, and conhIT even came up with a name for the movement – SHEHealth.

Overall, it’s obvious that conhIT has made a leap forward in significance, and it was great to attend conhIT for the second time in a row and see the development and growth. It’s becoming more and more clear that the future of healthcare has everything to do with digital infrastructure and there’s an ever-growing need for relevant solutions, which is where we at DataArt come into play.

Thank you, conhIT community, for this informative, exciting and valuable event format! See you next year!
